One person found this helpful. But do clamp the tubing to the fridge. Flush out the tubing by running a gallon of water through the new line into a bucket before you attach it to the fridge. Before starting, unplug the refrigerator or disconnect the power and grab your tools: Turn off the main water supply and open the nearest faucet long enough to relieve pressure. If it's a horizontal pipe, make sure you drill on the top of the pipe, not on the bottom-keeping normal sediment from collecting in the valve. Tighten the packing nut and the pipe clamp screws so the washer makes a watertight seal. Be careful not to overtighten.
You're ready to connect the copper tubing. Just slip the compression sleeve and the compression nut onto the copper tubing.

Insert the end of the tubing into the outlet end squarely, as far as it will go, and screw the compression nut onto the outlet end with a wrench. Place the free end of the tubing into a container or sink, and turn on the main water supply. Flush out until the water is clear, and turn off the shutoff valve on the water pipe.

Coil the copper tubing, remove the plastic flexible cap from the water valve and place the compression nut and ferrule sleeve onto the end of the tubing. Before connecting the tubing to the refrigerator, be sure the power cord is not plugged into the outlet. Insert the end of the copper tubing into the connection as far as possible. While holding the tubing, tighten the fitting.
