Did they make 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions in the 60's and 70's? It's very similar looking to the one found in this thread I have another 2x10 Carvin bass cab that I know is 4 ohm lying around. Is it true that if I run them in series I get a total 8 ohms of impedence? What I'm asking is, is that a "series" style connection?
Because I've read that running in series, the ohm's add up.
Please help me try to figure this out! I know it seems like a lot of work, but I have practice this weekend and want to know what my options are.

Right now, the obvious solution of buying an 8 ohm cab is out of the question. BTW my amp is only w solid state, and has 8 ohm only output. I'm not going to be blowing either of these cabs due to power.

When adding cabs, the impedance actually goes DOWN, so 2 x 4 ohms cabs would give 2 ohms, not 8. Think of cabs like garden hoses- the more you hook up, the more water power can flow. Problem is, if you go too low, you'll fry your amp. Those Ampeg 8 X 10's have been 4 ohms for as long as I can remember. This stereo thing is relatively new.

Any pointers gratefully received. Therefore the serial number doesn't fit the theory on serial numbers as it doesn't list a country of manufactor as the fourth digit so I wonder if it's pre or how I can guess the age. I tried searching for serial numbers for you to no avail.
