It happens on a regular basis. You get on trouble for not doing work you were never trained to do and they will not show you how to do it. When it is done wrong then you get in trouble for that! The attendance policy is all over the board and not consistant at all.

If you are more than 30 minutes late you are counted Absent the whole day, even if you are there. If you are considering working here If I could afford to quit I would. All I have to say is Ron is cockeyed and i cant really tell when he is yelling at me or looking at the wall. I can't find anything after graduating from college. I passed the weird culture interview but I am nervous about the credit apps and being treated unfairly.

Is it hard to get apps? Is it worth it?

Recent Sears Jobs

I don't want to be more miserable than I already am. The Hr manager was ok but acted as if I wasn't trying hard enough to get a job after college. A lot of morons are like this though. I also noticed everyone from Md is rude and I'm from NY. Don'tbelieveit in Phoenix, Arizona.

Sears employees abandoned store

This salesperson has run good help out of that store for the last three to four years. People quit because of her before I started working there, while I was working there, and even after I have quit Some of these people were VERY good at selling. They were professional, smart, and knowledgeable about the products. Now, during the last few weeks, the store has lost three very good and well trained sales people.

All because of one person.

Employees have went to management about her repeatedly and nothing is said or done. It's a shame, I really like Craftsman tools. I may have to go to a different store to buy some of those from time to time.

But that's it, lol. My location is fake. I will not disclose the store location, names, or anything else. I still choose to be professional about this while informing people of my experience. The last part of this excerpt is specific to one store. Most sales people at Sears are very courteous and helpful. This goes on everywhere, with backstabbers and cheats on the job. Companies just don't protect the good worker, like you. They let the cheats get away with it. Anonymous in Lawndale, California.

BluBroJake in Dallas, Texas said: All I can say is what a screwed up company I was fine with that, actually pretty interested in it I met with the LP manager and all I can say is what a joke What a waste of over a week of back and forth with them I will never go in a Sears again!!!

I worked part-time at Sears, but they had no idea that I was studying them as part of my school projects for an advanced degree!

The things I wrote about and discussed in class with other degreed and highly-experienced professionals who worked and went to school like me -- you cannot imagine what we said. Sears is the most deceiving, screwed-up joke of a company for anyone with any intelligence , any ethics, any sense of decency, any business sense whatsoever. This is NOT a place for people looking for advancement or a long-term career in a decent, honest-wage paying employer. Hell, they got sued not too long ago and had to pay backpay to all employees who worked free during a certain period.

So how did they settle? KnowsTooMuch in Lawndale, California. This was a part-time only job for me, but I was too ashamed to tell anyone that I had any connection with Sears. I only worked there for the extra pocket money to go tooling around in Vegas every few weeks or so. This is a not a place for serious, career-minded people. It's only a starter thing for high-schoolers or for people who have emigrated and can't get jobs anywhere else. Don't worry sears is going to hell a company that constantly treat their employees like --it will not last long.

That's probably why they are all acting worse. They know it's going down the tubes and are scrambling to get every penny they can before the ship sinks. Be careful of credit cards.

I hate sears

If you get one, get ONE. Then you watch it like a hawk. Don't buy anything you don't need. Say you buy your gasoline on it, or get a gasoline credit card. Try to pay off monthly. Do not do frivolous spending. Do not charge shopping sprees, vacations, gifts If you want to build credit, just buy some groceries or things you need on it, pay it off.

FormerDisgruntledEmployee in Greenbelt, Maryland. I recently left Sears, because of the ridiculousness that went on at my store. I worked at a store, where I had been an MPU associate for about 6months, and although the people I worked with in the unit were wonderful, I worked for some very backwards, last minute folks. When I was hired I was told that I'd have a chance to "grow within the company", but that turned out to be bs.

Our department lead left and was replaced by a guy nice guy, who tried his best who I never even had seen in the MPU area at all.

To make matters worse we were asked to train him to be our lead. Sears is an awful company to work for, an I suggest to anyone over the age of 17 that if you can find better work, do so.

The unbalanced hrs will not give you a chance to make sure your bills are paid, and they don't care about your time off request. So please don't have an emergency while you're there. The funniest thing throughout my entire experience there was they give this availability sheet to fill out, and I requested 1 day off which was Saturdays, and after my second week there up until my last day there I worked every single Saturday. I finally decided to be the brave one and call 88Sears.

The final straw was when I was inquiring why some work order that I believed was an estimate I had saved before the weekend was had another employees id on it. He grabbed the paper growled and threw the paper at me. I couldn't take anymore. I took lunch and lodged my complaint. We had a conference call with the DM on Saturday and he inquired if anyone knew why 88Sears was trying to contact him. I spoke up figuring someone was listening. Everything was downhill from there.

The behavior got worse. I have had exemplary customer service. I have customers that drive 4 hrs just because I treat them right. I was written up for a customer complaint first and final warning for a customer that wasn't even mine nor had I ever met that supposedly complained to my boss that I was eating on the sales floor, mouth full of food , and never even acknowledged them.

I asked how that was possible when I never brought food to work with me and always went home for lunch. And anyone in sales knows, you don't ignore a customer when you are paid commission, because that could be your next big ticket. Next, I was shown a stack of work orders that weren't signed invoices were and because they said created by me I was instantly guilty.

I had to explain to the boss that doesn't mean I was there to help the customer because it could have been a reservation or estimate that came in on my day off which some were. Write up 2 first and final for not following Sears policy and having the work order signed before we did the work and according to him the QSE with all its legal mumbo jumbo doesn't count. It sounds way more legal than the white print out.
