Manhattan Kansas Campgrounds
My opinion of this campground, and I use the word loosely, will be completely different than the others. We got there in the driving rain and wind. The entire park was a mud hole. Our 50amp site was attached to the storage building next door, no water, no sewer and in about inches of water. No way we were going to plug in standing in water without having a circuit breaker to turn off. The owner was very unaccommodating.
During our conversation with the owner in the office, we noticed there were no restrooms, no showers and only 1 washer and 1 dryer. We didn't stay and we won't ever go back. The rating of 1 is a little bit high. Very clean park with good potential. Plantings indicate desire to improve appearance. Setting is not attractive next to owner's storage units and a manufacturing plant in an industrial park. Our pull-through space, while not concrete, was level without having to extend our jacks. Very quiet; the few trains we heard became rather pleasant.
On arrival, manager suggested we not drink water because it wasn't safe. No cable TV, although we knew that.
Managers changed; new manager had no record of our reservation, but they did have an open spot. This is primarily an extended stay park. A fine place for an overnight stay. The back-in sites are gravel, and some of the pull-through sites are paved.

Most of the sites are shaded. There is a single bathroom in the storm shelter, and there are no showers. The manager was very helpful in getting us backed in to our site and hooked up. When you are going north on highway 77 and looking for where to turn left, the Flagstop Resort sign is on the right side of the highway but it is located past where you actually make the turn.
Plus, if sunlight is reflecting off the sign, it is very hard to read. You will need to watch for one of those small, square signs with a trailer on it so you know where to make the next left into the neighborhood. There is only one entrance and one exit. This campground caters to seasonal tenants. We encountered low hanging trees and large speed bumps.

There are some side by side hookups which puts you very close to your neighbor. We were in a full service site at the end of a row and enjoyed our view of the city park. Our site was level, hard-packed dirt, but not all sites looked at good as this one. The services all worked well. We would stay again if we got this same site. Price indicated is for camping only at full hook-up site. Office told me it was a state ordinance.

If you are coming from Interstate 70 there are no signs indicating you are headed toward the park until you get to Park Road so have faith and trust your GPS to get you there. Like most state parks the spaces are roomy although some are literally side by side sharing a common hook-up area. Several sites have the hook-ups on the wrong side.
Reservations on-line must be made at least 2 days in advance. Perhaps the sites with utilities on the wrong side could be considered pull-in sites although they are shown as back-in on reservation site.

A trail ride group was scheduled to come in shortly after we left. The private RV park where we had made reservations for the weekend screwed it up so we were without a place to camp at Woodland Hills Campground. Luckily we found a pull through site at the nearby state park. Concrete pad was ample for our 5th wheel and truck. There was a large tree providing shade on the right side but the picnic table and fire ring were on the left side with no shade.
We stayed here rather than a parking lot on our trip across Kansas going to Colorado.
Meetups in Manhattan
What a lovely surprise. Largest lake in Kansas. We didn't do anything in the park but you could spend a weekend here. The parking sites were wonderful. Ours was a pull through with an obstructed view of the lake.
Concrete level pad with full hookups. Well worth the drive off the interstate. We called to see if there were sites available before coming. We did not make reservations since sites were available. They have some sites that are reservable and some at first come. The park has 2 loops, one 30 amp -B and one 50 amp-A.
We stayed in 11 A which is reservable but empty so were told that it was OK for one night. There were sites on the water but we chose a site in the trees because of the wind being strong that day. Our backin site was fairly level spacious and long enough for our 40' mh and car. Good 50 amp , the water pressure was 90 so used a regulator. We were across from the restroom which had an odor because the wind was blowing in our direction but as the weather was cool we stayed inside with windows and vents closed. It was very peaceful.
We dumped on the way out near the entrance. We would stay here again. We stayed two weeks in a large site which was long enough for the 5th wheel and the truck AND was wide enough we could park the motorcycles next to the truck with room to spare. A shady level spot with gravel pad. We did use our leveler bricks to level the picnic table because we moved it creating the "lean".
The downfall was the mosquitoes. Although we were not lakeside, the mosquitoes were so bad we could not sit outside very long. We would definitely stay again. We were just needing a place to stay one night that wasn't too far off the hwy. Stayed in A loop in space 6.
It was a bit hairy trying to make the loop in our 38ft. Other than that it was a beautiful place and quiet, we would come back and hopefully stay a little longer. We were greeted by the most delight young lady. Check in was fast and efficient. The management greeted us and made sure our needs were met.
