Yakima hookup vs holdup

Threaded bolt that goes through the receiver is a little difficult, included wrench wouldn't work, not enough room for it to get on the hex bolt. Used a ratchet wrench. A regular pin or a locking one would be better. Received in good condition and quicker than promised.

Product was easy to assemble and fitted to vehicle well. Loaded bikes easily and adjusted tray positions to avoid bikes coming in contact with each other none come in contact with vehicle. Tilt down feature is great and allows access into back of vehicle. Test drove around neighborhood and bikes only moved slightly. Unloaded bikes easily and folded up carrier and drove around like that - no problems. Included cable locks are good but can't reach back tires, so need to buy another cable lock to fully secure the bikes - this is the only reason to downgrade one step from Excellent.

With the tilt down option I will be able to load my bike which is heavier than most being a pedal assist electric bike. The Yakima Holdup 2 Bike Hitch Mount works as advertised and from the product instructions had absolutely no trouble with the installation on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. The mount is substantial, sturdy and simple. One comment for "etrailer. The entire online experience was flawless. Your website was so easy, very informative and communication was "above and beyond" from searching, product research, explanations, ordering, email followups with order submitted, received, shipped, tracking both on your site with a map of where the product currently is located and UPS tracking info and delivery.

I can't come up with any suggestions. I will definitely shop etrailer. I already had one of these bike racks I had been using for over a year and then someone rear-ended my car. I ordered the exact same bike rack from etrailer. Holds bikes in place with minimal movement. The two bikes don't touch and the rack doesn't touch the frame. I had been putting my bikes in the back of my SUV. They leaned on one another. This rack also clears up the back so I can carry passengers.

Etrailer was extremely fast with shipping. Make sure you order what you want. The order will be processed and shipped before you can blink. I was extremely pleased with the fantastic communication and monitoring of the package. Easy to install and handle Ordered it on Tuesday, got it on a Thursday left for Milwaukee on Friday. I purchased a Pedego electric bike for Debera for her birthday.

PUSHYS REVIEW: YAKIMA HOLD UP 2 HITCH BIKE RACK

Our old rack wasn't built for the weight of the Pedego. After checking on line, I seen that the Yakima HoldUp 2 was adequate for the amount of weight we had to deal with. We placed an order sunday night an by tuesday afternoon we had our new rack. I have a Toyota 4Runner, which was not on the list of vehicles that would except this rack. After trying to install the rack, I could see that the spare tire is right up against the back side of the receiver on the vehicle.

The slight modification in which I did, did not hinder the structural integrity of the unit, what so ever. We have gone a total of four rides with the new rack an have been very pleased with its performance. The rack holds tight to the vehicle, the bikes have very little movement, the single key locking system is convenient. So to sum it up, we are very pleased with your service and the service of the product in which we have purchased from you, 5 stars all the way!

This is the first time that I've used etrailer and I'm impressed with the customer service. Molly was very helpful in helping me to place may order and follow-up with the status. Shipping was quicker than quoted by one day. The product, Yakima Holdup 2, is perfect for our two Pedego Interceptor ebikes. Easy to load and unload and definitely can see the quality. I've always used Yakima and this product does not disappoint.

Fits perfect on my Nissan Titan with 2" tow receiver. I am investing in a front wheel tie down to wrap around the wheel chock. It would be great if you included one similar to the one currently on the rear wheel chock. I do have a 2 receiver, I need a 4 bike holdup trailer hitch. Will the 2 receiver support the weight and will the unit clear the rear monstrous spare tire in the back?

Check the owners manual for the weight capacity of the hitch. Look for the tongue weight figure. As long as the rack and all the bikes combined weigh less than that figure, you are good to go. Whether or not it will clear the spare requires some measuring.

I purchased the Yakima bike rack because of the companies' reputation that for making quality products, and the informative video presented by the staff at etrailer. This carrier is everything they claim it is. It's very heavy duty, easy to mount and secure all types of bikes, whether they be BMX, mountain or road bikes, and, most importantly, rides so smoothly behind the vehicle due to the well engineered arm that goes into the receiving hitch that you forget it's there. I truly believe many a bike will wear out before this rack wears out. I would not hesitate to recommend this carrier to anyone who serious about quality and value.

It may be pricier than some of the competitors, but most of the time you get what you pay for. Thanks also to the people at etrailer for ranking the Yakima so highly and for how well it was packaged for shipping. The bike rack exceeded my expectations! Well-designed and sturdy , yet not so heavy that I couldn't install it on my vehicle myself. Also E-trailer delivered the product as quickly as promised. Entirely disagree with the light enough comment- I purchased the 2 2 version and it has to weigh the most awkward lbs Ive ever carried.

Makes it even more of a PITA when trying to lift it up to vertical. Takes two people and cannot expect my wife and 7 yr old to manhandle it. Enginerds should have used a coil spring to assist with the lift. Also- after owning for 8 months, theres significant pooled corrosion i. They clearly did not protect the interior and expect that very soon the powdercoating will give way to flaking leafs of corroded metal.

KUAT- lighter and wont rust! Light enough, maybe if you only use the 2 bike version, it weighs over 50 lbs.

I have the older grey 2 up along with the 2 plus making it hold 4 bikes. Combined they weigh about lbs. No way one person can put the receiver in the hole. Very difficult for one person to raise up the unit from horizontal also. The plus 2 also does not come with a lock to secure it to the 2 up or a cable to lock the bikes to the rack. I have also had two of the arms fail in a little over a year now, they have a lifetime warrantee but that gets old replacing them.

Rack does hold bikes very good, but I am not happy overall with my purchase. Other models out there for this kind of money take a look. This is a great rack and extremely well made. The consumer assembly is only the two cross arms with two bolts each. I debated between this and a similar Thule. The cable with integrated lock and the lockable hitch pin sold me on this one. I have two K2 29'ers and they fit well in the tire saddles. The pivot arm locks down tight on the front wheel as does the strap on the rear wheel making the bikes are very stable for traveling.

The large threaded hitch pin dampen all the slop in the hitch receiver. This may not be a problem with other vehicles.

For all the pros on this rack I can live with the con. Build like a tank. Can mount a bike on in less than 10 sec. Downside is bit heavy. Easy assembly and the rack works very well on my wife's Honda CRV, although with the bikes on the rack, even tilted downward, there is not enough clearance to fully open the rear hatch - so you need to do a little planning when loading up for a trip.
